Cylinder head porting is the manipulation of the port to increase flow and velocity of the air to interact with the cam and compression that the motor has in the various rpm ranges. There are many ways to port cylinder heads depending on the other contributing factors like compression, cam choice, gearing and intended use of the motor ie."where do you want the power ?" Some riders like top end power, like Nascar while others prefer low end torque like NHRA drag racing.
The port in your heads has the ability to serve both desires, but you can only have one or the other. When you decide what rpm range you ride in and where you want the most power, I can port the heads to meet these requirements. If you are building a street motor for daily use, then you may want the power to come on in lower rpm ranges as you cruise through the gears and occasionally go to WOT (wide open throttle) for the rush. In this case the power I provide will happen when you want more torque to push you when you are passing other vehicles or racing with your friends on a straight away. This kit will provide an instant throttle response !!
If you want the kind of power that is always at WOT, like a drag or street racer or dyno wars, then I can port the heads to have the power come on in the higher rpm ranges.
When I know what you want I will blend and cut the ports so the most air is delivered at the correct time. When the heads flow what I want, I go to the welding booth and work on the floor of the port to increase the velocity of the incoming air. This is a double whammy. Not only does the welding increase the velocity of the air it actually increases the amount of air being inhaled by the motor.
Now that the heads are flowing the numbers you want, it's time to pick out the cam. We will discuss this and choose a cam that compliments your riding style. That's where I can be of help in choosing the cam that's right for you.
There are many choices that will change the outcome of these packages, some might make it better, some might not. I can only attest to what I have used and know the results. I am always willing to discuss suggestions on parts that will compliment the kit you have chosen. This will result in the best performing kit for you and your motorcycle.
I am always learning right along with you and try my best to update my information and skills as new products are introduced on the market. So please feel free to contact me at the email address below.

I also do cylinder boring for those folks going from 88" to 95" ci, 88" to 98", 96"-103" or 96" to 107" or for just refreshing that tired set of cylinders, whether they are on a Twin Cam, Evolution, Shovelhead or any other model HD.  I use a Kwikway boring bar and all cylinders are torque-plate honed on a Sunnen hone.
